Hello from Jessica Acquah

Jessica Acquah is the Director and Founder of Inspiring Scientists Consultancy (ISC), an organization established in 2023 with a mission to unite scientists and aspiring scientists, promoting mutual support and growth throughout their careers. Jessica's journey in the scientific and healthcare sectors has been marked by her relentless pursuit of excellence and her passion for making a difference, particularly within Black and Asian Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities in the UK. 

Who is Jessica?

Educational Background 

Jessica's academic credentials are impressive. She received a scholarship in 2009 to study Applied Biomedical Sciences at the University of Surrey, where she trained under some of the best Biomedical Scientists at St. Peters Hospital in Chertsey, UK. Her specialization in haematology and Blood Transfusion, driven by a keen interest in Haemoglobinopathy within the BAME population and genetic predisposition conditions, set the stage for her impactful career. Furthering her expertise, Jessica pursued an MSc in Physical Activity and Public Health, equipping her with a comprehensive understanding of public health dynamics.

Professional Experience 

Jessica's professional journey has seen her contribute significantly to numerous NHS Trusts and private healthcare sectors across the UK. Her roles in Clinical Biochemistry, Point of Care, and specialization in Haematology and Transfusion gave her a broad and insightful perspective on healthcare challenges and solutions. Her work emphasizes the importance of mindfulness in healthcare access, particularly within diverse communities.

Inspiring Scientists Consultancy (ISC) 

Founded in 2023, Inspiring Scientists Consultancy (ISC) is Jessica's brainchild. ISC aims to create a collaborative environment where scientists and aspiring scientists can support each other, share knowledge, and grow together. Jessica's vision for ISC is rooted in the belief that everyone is a crucial part of the puzzle in building healthy and strong communities.

Jacquah Health Foundation 

In 2013, Jessica established the Jacquah Health Foundation, a platform designed to connect healthcare professionals within the BAME population to their communities in Reading, UK. The foundation ensures that the BAME populations in Berkshire benefit from the expertise and skills of these professionals, promoting inclusivity and community health. Through the foundation, Jessica emphasizes the importance of self-awareness and understanding in healthcare access and resistance.

Mentoring and Consulting 

Jessica Acquah is a passionate advocate for mentoring and professional development. Her consultancy services focus on guiding aspiring scientists and healthcare professionals, helping them navigate their careers with confidence and clarity. Jessica’s mentoring approach is rooted in her extensive experience and her belief in the power of collaboration and continuous learning.
